10 Signs Web-Based Sharing Is Reaching a Tipping Point

JUN

Here's an interesting article I just stumbled across on the net: http://gigaom.com/cleantech/10-signs-web-based-sharing-is-reaching-a-tipping-point/.

The point is, sharing is the trend and is here to stay. Some traditional hire businesses may understandably feel threatened by this trend. We have been, from the beginning, thinking about all those needing stuff temporarily from time to time as well as the existing hire / rental businesses. With AnyHire.com we bring everybody together for the benefit of all. The market will grow as more people start finding it easier and cheaper to rent stuff - from the professionals and from each other. Both the individuals as well as businesses can start reaping the benefits of this trend right now with AnyHire.com!

Get The Most Out of Your Company Vehicle Signage

MAY

Seems like every third vehicle on the road nowadays is a mobile sign post. Being able to write off your car come tax time is a huge bonus for business owners but how effective is this advertising?

If your business has a decent marketing budget and can afford to develop brand recognition then it's all good and well to slap your company name on a fleet of vehicles. Familiarity breeds comfort and when it comes to purchasing, we usually want to feel comfortable with the brand we are buying. Brand Marketing or NAME ONLY vehicle branding really only works if it is in conjunction with a complete brand awareness campaign and has a unique enough name to be searched for with success on the Internet.

The most INEFFECTIVE way to advertise using auto signage is display a basic phone number.

Few people are capable of safely dialling a phone number while driving 60+ kph much less being able to remember a 10 digit number long enough to pull over and call. It's recommended that a company invest in a simple to remember word based number to help your prospects more easily recall how to reach you such as 545 HIRE A PC or RENT A UTE 99.

Additionally, investing in a simple web site URL is great for gaining new customers and it's cheaper than you might think. While most hire businesses already have a website, the title may be too long for someone to remember. In this case, opt for a shorter and easier to recall URL that may not get you great google rankings but that you can use on your signage and link to your primary site. We understand there are many businesses out there that hire out products on a part time or secondary basis. Even these deserve a low cost web site you can use as basically an online business card. For around $50 a year you can get a website with your phone details and a blurb about what you are offering.

Hire This Trailer 0402 173 529 (fake #) is not nearly as effective as www.HIRE-THIS-TRAILER.com, which, at the time of this writing is an available URL.

For even more exposure - try listing your products on AnyHire.com.

Make Money – Rent Your Stuff

APR

I love “How-To” tutorials. I’m the kind of guy who loves when things are made easy and I’m given step-by-step directions on how to complete a task.

So, today, I’m going to give you my own step-by-step guide to make some money.

  1. Look around your home or apartment and find something you haven’t used in a while.
  2. Take a picture of it.
  3. Post it on AnyHire.com for rent

When someone in your area rents the item for you, you will have made money (less a small commission to AnyHire).

Wasn’t that easy?

A New Sense of Community

APR

I made a new friend while traveling in Peru a couple years ago.  We were talking about mankind and how we humans are evolving – what things we now feel are important, what we really need, and where we might be headed.

My friend, who is younger and wiser than me, moved forward in his chair and said to me quietly, “What people are longing for is a sense of community.”

Such a simple, beautiful thought – being able to feel safe where you live, being able to depend on others to watch your house while you’re away, helping an elderly neighbor with their groceries, or just being able to borrow a hammer if you need one.

This “sense of community” is one of the guiding principles behind AnyHire.com.  AnyHire lets you participate in your community by renting out the things you own to a neighbor, or someone in your community.

I believe some companies “get it” right from the start.  AnyHire is one of them.

Toy Boredom

MAR

I recently cleared out my kids toys coming up with a full bag of garbage for the dump and two large bags of toys to drop off at charity. It's amazing to think how much money family and friends spent on those toys that were sometimes only used once or twice. There I am sitting on the floor, shaking my head at myself for spoiling the kids and muttering aloud as I wondered why they rarely use things they practically begged for.

It's easy to shake our heads at our kids, but have a look in our own closets, sheds, garages and attics and we'll usually find a few boxes of things that just aren't being put to good use. With Anyhire.com, you can easily list these items and earn some extra coin in the process to keep spoiling those great kids of yours.

STICKER SHOCK

FEB

"Great for the kids!". My wife and I gazed out at the expansive yard happy with our new rental house. When the rains came the grass started growing so fast I was spending four hours a week pushing my little red lawn mower around just trying to keep on top of it.

The two lawn care companies I contacted never rang me back (typical) so, after talking it over, we decided to look into getting a riding lawn mower.

STICKER SHOCK! We had just relocated from the United States. We knew prices would be adjusted here in Australia. After all, importing costs money. There's the shipping cost, import duty, middleman fees, the mystery tax that magically shows up when importing items but nothing had prepared me for such an outrageous difference in cost as this.

A John Deere X304 riding mower that my uncle has back in the states costs, brand new $3100. It's a lot of tractor though and it carries the John Deere brand name, always known for reliability and longevity. Cost of the same mower here in Australia.......$7500. "GASP"! I couldn't believe it. More than double the price?

Someone's getting rich on mowers over here and I have a feeling it's not John Deere.

OK – Hold on. What are we thinking? Even if we can get a mower for 25% of that cost, we’ll only use it frequently until the rains slow down. What if we decide to find a different home with a smaller yard? How am I going to fit a ride on mower in the garage with my tools, sporting equipment and cars too? Meanwhile, there goes my retired neighbour on his brand new ride on mower. And then it dawns on me…

AnyHire.com makes so much sense it’s ridiculous.

Got a big expensive mower taking up space? Earn some money! Let a guy like me help you pay for it. I’ll bet there’s someone within a few kilometres of you right now willing to rent or hire something you’ve got. So go ahead…be a champ and help a neighbour. Start listing with www.anyhire.com right away. It’s easy, it’s helpful and it’s always free to list.

Helping Qld flood victims

JAN

We are joining the Queensland Flood Appeal and would like to contribute our bit in helping the unfortunate people whose lives were severely affected by the recent destructive floods in our home Australian state.

AnyHire.com is offered as a resource tool to all Queenslanders, making it easier to source what is needed to help flood victims rebuild their lives as quickly as possible. Years have been spent designing and building this tool and we are certain it could prove invaluable in helping people begin to get back on their feet.

We encourage everybody with tools, furniture, baby gear, household items and other resources that they do not necessarily want to give away, but can do without, to temporarily offer them for hire to the flood victims. You set the price, even if it's as low as $1. Anyhire.com will allow you to list as many items as you like for free and there will be no transaction costs to anyone who uses our service as long as it is related to flood relief.

We will also be donating one dollar per standard transaction toward the floods for the next 60 days.

So please help by offering for low cost or free, the use of your trucks, tools, temporary accommodation, generators, white goods and anything else that would make it easier for our fellow Queenslanders to get back up on their feet - now and in the comming months.

Sincerely,

Marek Vsechovsky
Managing Director

Please identify your items priced specifically for the Flood Appeal in the item's short description and when hired, send us an email to floods@anyhire.com requesting refund of all fees.

AnyHire.com Official Launch!

JAN

Today we announce the official lunch of Anyhire.com, so let us change the way you think and save you thousands of dollars each year. Why buy when you can rent it? Or why not rent your stuff out?

Yes save yourself the expense of buying that item that you’ll only use now and again and go to AnyHire. With the cost of living increasing each day its makes sense to hire and save, It’s also nice to know you can turn some of those unused items into a cash steam.

AnyHire.com has been designed from the start as an international application, allowing anybody, from anywhere globally to become a member and start offering products for hire. We have set out sights to become the global market leader in this field. To fulfil our vision we have spent huge chunks of time designing many advanced features that don’t bother you at the beginning, but you may start discovering them as you use the site more and more. For the site to be really usefull globally, we provide you with many ways to search or browse many types of populated places of the world, we let you suggest new item categories that we did not think of, or, for example, you are able to price your items in any world currency and receive payments in any number out of 23 major world currencies.

Anyway, that is just where the features start and describing them all would take a long time, believe us. We’ve designed the application to be as easy to use as possible with advanced features to be discovered once you think “oh, this and that may be usefull”. You may then realize “Wait a minute, I’ve seen something that could get me to such functionality.” And when you click on it, voila, you will find in many cases that it is already there.
There is also help available on all the major pages. It may not currently be up to date and chunks of that are still missing, but we are skipping our coffee breaks to make that available to you as other priorities will allow us.

For all our current and future users: Please know that we will be improving the site based on your needs and suggestions. All you need to do to let us know what they are.

We encourage everybody to list their own less used items for hire on this site so that it becomes useful you and others quickly. C’mon guys, it is FREE and it can only be good for you! :-)
